Calm, evidence‑based answers for your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey in Singapore

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A doula is a trained birth companion someone who supports you emotionally, physically, and informationally throughout pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period. A doula is not a medical professional. She doesn't deliver your baby or make clinical decisions. What she does is stay by your side from the early hours of labour through to those first precious moments with your baby — offering calm, continuous, non-medical support that your midwife or doctor simply doesn't have time to provide.

Think of it this way: your medical team takes care of your health and your baby's safety. Your doula takes care of you.

  • I offer personalised birth doula support in Singapore, walking with you from pregnancy through birth and into the early postpartum days. My main birth packages include prenatal preparation sessions, continuous in‑person labour and birth support at your chosen hospital or at home, and a postpartum visit to help you settle in, process your birth, and get support with feeding and newborn care.

For families who feel they don’t need continuous support during labour, I also offer prenatal preparation with postpartum support only so you can still feel informed, confident, and held before birth, and then receive nurturing support once baby is here. I additionally provide individual postpartum support sessions, which can focus on emotional debriefing, newborn care, feeding, rest, or simply having an experienced, calm presence in your home.

  • I currently attend births at private and public hospitals in Singapore, including NUH, Thomson Medical Centre, Mount Elizabeth Novena, Mount Elizabeth Orchard, Gleneagles, Raffles Hospital and soon in KKH too. If you’re birthing at a different hospital, we can discuss what support is possible and how best to plan for your specific setting. No matter where you choose to give birth, my focus is on helping you feel prepared, respected, and deeply supported.

  • Papaya Wellness is all about deeply personalised doula care in Singapore for families who want both grounding information and warm, human support. I combine evidence‑based birth education with an intuitive, heart‑led approach so you feel informed in your choices and emotionally held at every step.

As a multilingual birth and postpartum doula, speaking English, French and Spanish. I support international and local families who may be far from extended support, helping you navigate Singapore’s maternity system with clarity and confidence. Whether you’re planning an unmedicated birth, epidural, induction, water birth, or c‑section, my focus is always on your autonomy protecting your preferences, holding calm space, and making sure you and your partner feel like a strong, connected team.

My care is intentionally low‑volume, so when you work with me, you’re not just another booking you’re a family I walk alongside through one of the most intense and beautiful seasons of your life.

  • The easiest way to reach me is to book a free clarity call through my website’s Call book button, where you can share a little about your pregnancy and what you’re looking for. You can also get in touch directly by email to papayawellnessdoula@gmail.com , and I’ll reply as soon as I can to answer questions and help you explore whether Papaya Wellness is the right support for your family.

  • Yes. My support is for all kinds of births, not just unmedicated ones. Whether you’re planning an epidural, an induction, VBAC or a planned or unplanned c‑section in a Singapore hospital, I help you prepare, understand what to expect, and stay connected to your body and your baby throughout.

  • Most families I work with here book between 16 and 28 weeks of pregnancy, but it’s never “too late” to reach out. As soon as we begin working together, you’ll have access to support, resources, and a calm, steady presence you can lean on throughout the rest of your pregnancy and birth.

  • The research on doula support is consistent and compelling families who have a doula present during labour tend to have shorter labours, fewer interventions, and more positive birth experiences. But beyond the statistics, the benefits are deeply personal. A doula changes how you feel during labour, and long after it's over.

    You feel informed, not overwhelmed

Continuous support that doesn't change shifts

    Your partner feels confident too

    A smoother postpartum transition

  • Not at all. A doula supports you through every kind of birth unmedicated, epidural, water birth, or planned c-section. The type of birth you're having doesn't change your need for continuous emotional and physical support. It just changes how that support looks.

This is one of the most common misconceptions about doulas that they're only for families planning a natural or unmedicated birth, or that hiring a doula means you're committed to a birth without pain relief. That's simply not true. A doula's role is to support your choices, not to influence them.

Whether you walk into hospital knowing exactly what you want, or you're keeping an open mind and planning to see how labour unfolds.

I'm here to walk alongside you, inform you, and hold space for whatever path your birth takes.
